Day 15 - Brooklyn New York

Woke up at the Ramada JFK to pouring rain - and that's how it stayed ALL day! I got up and about as quickly as possible and headed down to the internet. After praying, God found us a place in Brooklyn. A B&B where some people had had to leave early - what a blessing and reasonable price for NY. We went down and checked out, had a quick breakfast and then caught our first Taxi - Michael. He was so helpful and knew exactly where to take us and that wasn't easy. We dropped off our suitcases, checked things out (Gra was thrilled with the accommodation - I wasn't so sure) and headed into NYC by train.

Some other homes in the street - it was a lovely neighbourhood
That was an adventure all on it's own! I was a little hesitant because as soon as you leave the gorgeous tree lined street we are staying in - you're in 'the Broncs' and it's a very different world. I felt a little unsafe actually. Can't really explain it, but kept my stuff very close by! We had to get of the train after about 5 stations - catch a bus - and then back on the train! would figure just when we're there wouldn't it. (It stayed like that the whole time we were there!) Neither of us think much of NY - but it could be just the rain. It is SO wet! Hasn't rained for 6 weeks and now it's making up for everyone of them! There has even been extreme flooding in the next State and making news all over the world. We walked to the site of the World Trade Centre and to St Paul's Cathedral over the road - I was fascinated and touched all at once. I couldn't reconcile my feelings actually - it's kinda eerie being here and seeing the end result of the destruction of 9/11.

The root system of the tree in front of St. Paul's that was the only thing the was damaged there, even though it's just over the road.

We then moved on to Century 21 - a HUGE shopping complex - but it was just too crowded.

We found an internet cafe @ Burger King and did some research on flights to Buffalo and then headed 'home'. Got home about 7pm and settled down to a glass of red and 'days of thunder'. Now, after some laundry it's off to bed!.
