We both were awake for about an hour at 1am - other than that we slept well and woke at 7am to a beautiful view from the window above our bed. We decided to head out on a walk around the park and surrounding area.
How beautiful it is here. The Hitch 'n Rail is at Heffey Lake, about 50km north of Kamloops. People are so friendly, no matter what the reason. We had a youngish guy stop us while we were walking to see if we knew where someplace was - I had to say sorry, but that I was from Australia and he laughed and thanked us heaps anyway.
Heffey Lake is a really 'quaint' place - lots of lovely weekenders right on the lake. I could stay a few days easily.
We travelled on until arrived at our place for the night - Valemount. The scenery today has been much the same all day. Not bad at all, but not as spectacular as what we've seen. I drove almost all day. Weather was brilliant until we got to the last leg of the journey, then it really turned. We made it to Mt. Robson and hoped to stay there only to find the closest RV Park was back at Valemount. We stayed at Mt. Robson for a while (the largest mountain in BC). Rang Go-West and found we could keep the RV another 2 days - YAY! We called Mum and Dad from there and had a lovely chat. Couldn't believe it was from the other side of the world. Had a VERY sweet hot drink and bought gifts for Bec, Lizzie and Renee and a T-shirt for Gra, then back on the road again to Valemount. Got there, booked in, did a load of washing (!) then dinner. We're staying at Irvin's Park and Campground - a bit barren but still surrounded by snow capped mountains.
These two photo's are taken at the 'Hitch and Rail' RV Park at Lake Heffey. The first one is the view when we woke in the morning and looked out the widow over the bed. It had been dark when we arrived so we had no idea what God had in store for us the next morning - I felt like I woke in Heaven!
These are two more in the same location.
Then this one was on the road between Lake Heffey and Valemount - we stopped to have lunch....what a view to eat by!
Me enjoying the experience of driving on the other side of the road
